Getting More Active - Thursday, October 31
Fitness is about more than logging time on a treadmill — it’s about boosting your quality of life. Change the way you think about exercise. Rather than view working out as something you do once a day, see yourself as someone who is active. You’ll be surprised at the motivation this mindset can produce.
Try these ideas:
Play with kids. Stop texting while they scamper up the jungle gym — instead join their frolic on the playground. Trade your chair for a football. Remember tag? You’re it!
Tackle errands on foot. Take advantage of those little trips to the store or post office to add movement to your day. Instead of jumping in the car, go on foot or ride your bike if you can. Or plan to cover a few tasks near each other by parking at the first location and then walking.
Dive into chores. From hiring landscapers to letting machines do the dirty work, modern home maintenance doesn’t require a lot of energy output. Get down on all fours and scrub those tiles. Go after the corner cobwebs with a broom. Paint a room. Rake leaves. You’ll feel fit and gratified.
