It’s amazing what a simple laugh can do: release stress, speed healing, and bring people closer together. Research suggests laughter can even help improve memory. And it’s much easier to laugh in a group than by yourself. Why not share those good feelings and build better relationships throughout your community? Organize some funny festivities:

  • Movie night. Pull out the popcorn! Screen your favorite comedies or even silly home videos. Go online to pull up TV’s best clips, skits, and bloopers to get great guffaws.

  • Talent show. Good-natured giggles are contagious, setting a fun mood where nervousness melts away. Invite friends and neighbors to perform stunts, tell stories, and act out comedy sketches. Give a child a joke book and you’ll both delight in the delivery.

  • Playful pastime. Goofy games that get you moving can also get you chuckling. Chasing games such as sock steal and blind man’s bluff are always hilarious. Or try 1-minute challenges like stacking 3 golf balls.

How will you spread laughter this week?
