Make the most of family sporting events like soccer, little league, track meets, and baseball games and practices. Instead of sitting around, why not take the opportunity to be an active spectator and have some fun yourself? Here are ideas to get you off the bench:

  • Walk up and down the sidelines, around the track or field, and bring a ball to kick or throw
  • Volunteer to be an assistant coach; you’ll get exercise preparing and actively participating
  • Go to the game early and use the warm-up or practice time for physical activity, then watch the game when it begins and cheer for your team
  • If there are bleachers, challenge yourself to a stair climbing workout to get your heart rate going and help tone your legs.

You can meet your exercise goals by being rigorously active at sporting events.
