In addition to being an effective exercise, dancing is fun and invigorating. Join a class or, if you’re a bit shy about dancing in front of others, try a DVD or online video and learn a dance style:

  • Hula. Hawaiian dancing works your hips, abs, and arms.

  • Latin. The fast-paced movements in Latin dance work your core and leg muscles.

  • Hip hop. Hip hop routines can help you tighten your abs, arms, and legs.

  • Ballroom. From the slow, precise waltz to the energetic quick step, ballroom dancing is a great way to get in shape.

  • Bollywood. This Indian-style dance promotes grace and precision while toning and firming.

The options don’t end there. Once you get the basics down at home, check with a local dance school and community resources for classes.
