Resolution Solution - Tuesday, January 02
Now that you’ve officially rung in a new year, try these strategies for staying on track:
Moderation, not deprivation, is the key to better nutrition. Eliminating an entire food group isn’t recommended… or sustainable. Instead, ditch the good foods, bad foods mindset and think of foods as more nutritious and less nutritious. Consume more of the more nutritious foods regularly, and fewer of the less nutritious foods… but you don’t need to cut them out completely.
Approach exercise with a positive mindset. Focus on the immediate rewards of working up a sweat — a mood boost that can last all day, stress relief, and more energy to do the things you enjoy. Aim to incorporate more active hobbies into your week — such as playing tennis with friends, hiking on the weekends, or trying a new group fitness class.
Active social fun is another way to weave fitness into your lifestyle; meet friends for a walk instead of coffee; invite another family to join yours for a bike ride; go dancing, play golf, or explore a nearby town on foot.
