Get Moving for a Cause - Monday, April 08
Signing up to run or walk for a cause might be just what you need to get moving. The rewards of dedicating yourself to a special event can be tremendous. Many organizations have free formal training programs when you commit to participating. Here are some worthwhile causes, organizations, and events:
Komen Race for the Cure — Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Over 100 races and walks a year (3.1 miles).
Team in Training — The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. Organized training and fundraising program that prepares runners, walkers, and cyclists for half and full marathons (13.1 and 26.2 miles), century rides (100-mile bike rides), and triathlons.
America’s Walk for Diabetes — American Diabetes Association. Over 100 races and walks throughout the year (1-4 miles).
Heart Walk — American Heart Association. Over 600 races and walks throughout the year (3.1 mile distance).
