Everyone knows it’s important to stay hydrated, but if you think all water is created equal, time to stop and read the label. While searching for flavorful alternatives to plain water, make sure you know what you’re drinking and decide if it’s right for you. Many new “enhanced waters” focus on specific vitamins, minerals, and herbs or have soluble fiber, fruit essence, and caffeine. The most important things to consider are taste and additives you don’t need unless you’re participating in extended strenuous exercise.
Try these simple ideas to jazz up your water:
- Squeeze in orange, lime, or lemon
- Freeze melon balls or berries and use in place of ice
- Keep a pitcher of water in the fridge with strawberries, blueberries, and peaches added for great flavor
- Mix 1 part 100% fruit juice with 5 parts water
- Steep and chill some flavored herbal tea.
