Summer fun opportunities are all around you, courtesy of your community. Get out and take advantage of these local resources by:

  • Partying at a park. Did you know you can host a celebration in a public park? Rates are normally affordable, with amenities such as playgrounds, enchanting gardens, and historic sites. Nature centers are another option, making birthdays extra memorable with live creatures, outdoor adventures, and entertaining programs.

  • Glimpsing history. Many of our country’s most fascinating sites are protected by the National Park Service — for example, Pearl Harbor’s USS Arizona Memorial, Thomas Edison’s laboratory, and portions of Lewis and Clark’s trail. Find out which of the system’s 417 parks are near you. On a few days each year, the entrance-fee parks open up for free.

  • Admiring art. Public art is on display in airports, botanical gardens, colleges, and even sidewalks. Statues, gorgeous glasswork, and professional murals are just some of the interesting, inspiring installations you’ll find around town. Take a tour and let your inner art lover out.
